Meeting Minutes

21.7.99

Main goal:

To be able to hand someone our CD with heaps of cool stuff on it, which will motivate the them to look thru the project and download the information from the website.

Time frame:

Only 1 month for Prototype. Presentation 23.8.99

3 months for Project. Production Presentation 11.11.99

Construction of site: IE4, resolution of 800x600.

The Navigation:

Navigation will be the Wow! factor.

Director will be the guts of the project. Showcase webpages and full screen 3D animation via links.

If doing the interface with frames, the navigation area will take up a lot of space.

The interface will be able to expand to suit different resolutions.

Can't slice up animations. Therefore, frames won't successfully for the interface navigation.

Shockwave full on hardcore 3D graphics for interface. For stuff we want to be able to updateon the Web, Simplify but keep consistant with the 3D stuff on CD, but in frames in a new window.

Using Director:

Lots of things can go wrong, but were doing fairly simple stuff in Director, so this shouldn't be a major issue. We also have Uncle Col at our disposal.

We believe projects for the Web will outgrow projects using Director. Most businesses would prefer to have their material on the Web, rather than CD. If they are to be handing material out, it would even be more practicle to print it.

Our reasons for using Director is that we are going for the "Wow!" factor. Therefore, our project will be based half on Director, and half on the Web.

Target Audience:

We are going for the Ultra Wow! to impress everyone at the exhibition.

Impracticle to target the conservative market, as the stuff we're using will be pretty expensive.

Minimum Requirements:

Pentium 100.

Prototype:

Prototype will be a depth first model of the final project.

Will include: Splash screen, index (including intro speil), About us, and a Showcase of 2D animation.

Issues to address:

Can layers be placed above a Shockwave movie?

Can 3D animations be spliced?

Can Plug ins be included on a CD?
